Distinguished Teacher Betty McPeek

What advice would you give to people considering a career in teaching?

First, due to the constant advancements in neuron-science and researched based teaching strategies, I would strongly advise new teachers to stay open to learning about
these advances and then enriching the programs for their students.
Second, from my experience, teachers must always work with their
student's families and fellow professionals. As the saying goes:'two
heads are better than one,' especially when working towards a greater
understanding of each student.

What's the best thing about teaching?

For me, teaching is, and has always been exciting, creative, challenging, and thought provoking. I find that I learn much from my students, making each day a truly rewarding experience.
