What advice would you give to people considering a career in teaching?
A career in teaching includes both ongoing rewards and challenges so an attitude of perseverance is imperative. Participating in quality educational experiences will help you to construct an understanding of educational pedagogy while building a diverse collection of resources. Teaching is a dynamic relationship that needs to continue to grow and develop over time. There is no one size fits all curriculum or program that will meet the needs of all students so teachers must be prepared yet flexible. Listen to your students and allow them to help you develop a learning community that responds to student needs and supports all learners!
What's the best thing about teaching?
The best thing about teaching is when you observe your students engaging in rich learning experiences while collaborating in a community of learners! It is when your students need you but also function independently. It is when your students love learning, constantly ask questions, and inspire each other to persevere when something takes time or is challenging. The best thing about teaching is learning to enjoy the dynamic, ever changing process of learning with your students!
