What advice would you give to people considering a career in teaching?
The advice I would give to those considering a career in teaching is to explore more than one grade level. Exposure to both the primary grades and intermediate grades will give you a better idea of what fits you the best. I always thought I would end up teaching a primary grade level, because my mother was a preschool teacher. After spending time in 5th grade, I knew that was where I was meant to be!
What's the best thing about teaching?
The best thing about teaching is sharing the excitement of discovery with my students! Seeing my students make a connection with a concept or achieving success after working through a problem, are just a couple of reasons why I love what I do. Each day, I look forward to observing my students enjoy the learning process
and go above and beyond what the basic lessons intended. As a teacher, I hope to be able to instill and convey to my students my love and enthusiasm for teaching and life-long learning.
