What advice would you give to people considering a career in teaching?
Be consistent and structured, always having the best interest of every student in mind. Above all else, you must have a passion and firm belief that all students are capable of high levels of learning and accept the responsibility of making this outcome a reality for every child. Remember that our mere "9 to 5 job" is a matter of life or death, as the success and failures of our students will dramatically affect their futures, near and far, in more ways than we will ever know.
What's the best thing about teaching?
It is the task of pushing "apparently ordinary" students to new heights, causing them to work harder than they have ever worked before, only to discover that "it" was in them all along. Students will surprise you, they have more in them than they often times get credit for.
