Distinguished Teacher Melissa Hero

Since elementary school, I had always wanted to be a teacher. I never thought I would teach at the high school I attended but it just sort of happened. My proudest moment was seeing my first AVID students graduate from high school.

My advice to new teachers is to find other teachers to collaborate with in your department, school or district. If you are alone, you will have a hard time. Make sure you always have someone to share ideas with and to lean on for support and advice.
