My advice to new teachers is to try it in a supportive environment. If it fits, it is hard to find another career as challenging and emotionally rewarding. There are endless opportunities for creativity. If it doesn't fit, it will be draining and discouraging and it will be time to look for something different.

I'm happy whenever a student comes out of my class more confident in his/her abilities and more interested in science. The people I work with  both students and staff  is the source of my continuing commitment to the teaching profession. I'm motivated to help students grow in their understanding of and appreciation for the natural world.
