Former CA Teacher with Expired Level I, Education Specialist Credential

If you were not teaching when the credential expired, you cannot renew. You must complete the steps listed below.
Note: Credentials may lapse without penalty until an individual has an offer of employment in a position that allows for the completion of the clear credential requirements. Lapsed documents may be renewed at any time, as long as the renewal requirements listed on the document have been met.

Unchecked check box Apply for an extension at any time within a year of the credential expiration date. Commission staff may issue an extension of time by appeal for a credential when an applicant verifies good cause for not completing the renewal requirements.
Unchecked check box Find out from the teacher preparation program originally completed which courses must be completed or repeated to qualify for a new preliminary credential under current requirements. (If request for an extension is not possible.)
Unchecked check box Complete required new or make-up courses.
