A great teacher in a challenging inner-city school is a teacher, is a teacher who teaches the way students learn. Number two, you have to teach like your life depends on student outcome. That’s how I teach. I teach like everything I got depends on student outcome. If the students are failing, I take it, I mean that means I failed. I take it that personal. And without that personal responsibility I cannot teach in this environment and I need to take the responsibility and do whatever it takes to get them to succeed. It’s not going to be easy in an inner-city school.
